Powder coating has become extremely popular since its introduction in North America over 40 years ago. It is now used on a variety of products, including industrial equipment, outdoor furniture, fences and gates, and automobiles. Companies choose powder coating when they need a high-quality, durable finish. It is also available in an almost limitless range of colors.
Powder coating is a dry finishing process that adds superior durability to a finished product. The product is thoroughly cleaned, most often by sandblasting. A spray gun electrostatically charges the powder particles, attracting them to the grounded product. After application, the product is heated in an oven at temperatures ranging from 320 to 410 degrees, depending on the powder used.
Mild steel, galvanized and electroplated steel, aluminum, stainless steel, and most other steel alloys can be powder coated.
All items must be disassembled before being brought in for powder coating.
The benefits of custom powder coating greatly exceed those of custom paint.

Our oven is 42 ft x 8 ft x 8 ft. In practice, items must be smaller than about 41.5 ft x 7.5 ft x 7.5 ft to fit on the cart that goes inside the oven.
Our standard cleaning includes an alkaline cleaner for steel or a micro-particulate fractionalization cleaner for aluminum, followed by a basic rinse and the minimal sanding needed before powder coating. Excess sanding costs extra.
We can sandblast when needed, but we cannot strip rust from items with chemical cleaners. We can blast some aluminum items, depending on their size.
We can sometimes powder coat over an existing powder finish, depending on its condition, color, and the desired color.
Due to the nature of our business, we are unable to warranty items. We will correct and redo obvious errors on our end, but we cannot reimburse for them. Powder coating is more durable than standard paint, but it is not indestructible: it can come off when hit by a hard object.
Rust may appear when items are not fully seal welded or contain excess oil. Powder may not reach tight areas, deep holes, or tiny spaces between metal. Over time, saltwater can eat away at the coating, and sunlight can fade it, especially chrome finishes.
We are unable to do ceramic coating at this time. We do offer high-temperature powder coating, but there are limited color options.
$50 per drop-off. Contact us for a specific quote.
The minimum is per drop-off, not per item, as long as all items are going the same color. We can sometimes combine your items with other jobs to reduce the minimum when using a basic color.
